I mostly enjoyed the story and plot, but the resolution did come very quickly. Elizabeth solved the mystery without even confronting the murder or putting herself in the teensiest bit of danger, which is abnormal. I was glad that there wasn't nearly as much Scottish dialect as the author's note seemed to threaten, because I find it very tiresome to try to interpret. Finally, it seems very much out of Elixabeth's character to take Cameron back to her room after just meeting him that day, not to mention deciding she's madly in love with him after 24 hours' acquaintance. I know she says she lies to her friend about Milo Gordon being her fiancee at the beginning of the book, but she mentions him maybe once after that, and I can't tell if much happened between them between books 2 and 3 or not.
